Gianna's Story

I wonder if anyone remembers me from waaayy back, I n.oticed many people seem to remember my sister, who's a year younger than I am, she also went to Saint Francis, Saint Martin's and Erindale Secondary School.. . I'm like a cat with nine lives. I have lived in many places and moved countless times. Those who have lived and worked in more or less the same place for decades may find it odd, but you know what they say, "No pain, no gain" and I'm the personification of this proverb, I've always taken risks and moved out of my comfort zone in pursuit of my ambitions and passions. I've traveled back and forth from Europe to North America all my life and I've always been driven by an inner voice that told me to get out of my comfort zone and explore what's on the other side. It took a lot of courage and determination but I knew I had to do it. I went to Saint Francis of Assisi for two years (which I recently visited) then I moved on to Saint Martin's on Rosemary Drive, Mississauga. It was Erindale secondary high after that until grade 12 graduation. I took a useless course at Sheridan college and graduated with a two-year diploma. I left Canada and returned to Europe hoping to embark on a fashion designing career but another door opened instead. I landed a job on a lovely Mediterranean island and ended up working for the United States Department of defense military installation for 19 years. I earne...Expand for more
d a BA in European languages and a post-graduate diploma in specialized translation. I collaborated with the local American newspaper as a freelance writer and for almost two decades I lived my life in what seemed like a small American State (the 53rd). I travelled back and forth to the continental United States and spent extended periods in the UK , and travelled to other lovely European countries. During my time in Europe I had the chance to see the uglier side of humanity and I knew I couldn't just be a useless bystander, I had to do something. So I realized that my mission there was to help homeless, abused animals. It was never pretty or fun and for the first time in my life I realized that many (but fortunately not all) human beings only live for themselves, and at the expense of others. The experience was something I had to see and live personally, not just read about in papers. After earning my degree I decided that I needed a change and returned to Canada (leaving a divorce back in Europe) at the end of 2012 and bought myself a nice condo in Mississauga and began a new life in Canada.. I earned several diplomas and certificates and worked as an interpreter /translator. Then I left Mississauga and headed for Ottawa where I was hired by one of the Embassies in the heart of the city. It's not my cup of tea but I felt I had to try it. I am going back to Mississauga at the end of July.
