Gil's Story
Left Islip Feb 69 for the U.S. Navy. After boot camp, went to Radioman Technical Control school in Bainbridge, Maryland. First assignment was RIVDIV3, RIVRON5 in Qua Viet, Vietnam as a forward twin 50 Gunner on a PBR. From there I was stationed in Japan for 4 years, where met my Japanese bride, got married in 1971 (will be celebrating our 50th anniversary soon). om there, yup you guessed it, back to Japan and served onboard the USS Francis Hammond FF-1067, From there was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and for my last three years, in Hawaii, where I retired in 1989 as an RMCS(SW) (E8). Graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu with a BS in Computer Science in 1989. Went to work with DOD and retired from that in 2015. We have 2 daughters, 4 grandkids and living to good life here in paradise! I hope God has blessed all of you with happiness, good fortune and peace and continues to do so.
