Gilbert's Story
Life
I graduated from LA Pierce College in 1974. I then had a great time in the Army for 3 years, then it was back to Southern California for a civilian career and more school. I graduated from Cal State University, San Bernardino, in 1984 with a BA in Economics. It was fun and challenging juggling a full time career with 3/4 to full time school. It kept me plenty busy and out of trouble.
After several interesting career moves I wound up founding a company specializing in automated computer data extractions & translations for legacy and UNIX computer systems, and spinning raw data into marketing/analytical information in PC network environments (MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase, Visual FoxPro, etc.). These machines are so much fun to work with...
I am married to a wonderful "lifetime girlfriend" (Lynda), have a two daughters (Jessica, 1978 & /Alexa 1987) and a son (Joe, 1980). We also have 2 Siberian Huskies, which both rule our NY home (Rochester, NY). I still have my California home, and visit whenever I get a chance.
Life has been good. I have been all over the country, and have lived in several places for 1 to 4 year periods. I guess I am a nomad at heart. I luckily survived a bout with brain cancer in early 2014, but have some side effects of the life saving surgeries - a fair trade at the least. For nearly 30 y...Expand for more
ears I had my own consultancy and enjoyed "working for a hobby." In early 2019 I decided to sell the business technologies I created and retire. Now Lynda and I spend our time traveling, as well as tinkering with, working on, driving, and showing our 5 Muscle/Pony/Sports cars during "Car Season" (mid-April through Mid-November).. We have put together quite a few How To YouTube videos that we publish in the hope other folks find the information useful.
Our Muscle/Pony.Sports cars collection are:
1969 Shelby GT500,
1973 Mustang Convertible (with just over 20,000 original miles, barn stored over 40 years,
1973 Mach 1 Mustang built for Street/Strip performance,
1997 Honda Del Sol SI,
2020 Shelby GT500
We also have two SUVs for daily driving year around. During retirement in the Winter Hibernation months for the cars I spend much of my time communicating with any number of fellow automobile enthusiasts re: how to diagnose and repair the early model First Generation Mustangs (1965 - 1973). I turned all but one client over to the company that purchased our business, so a few times each month I produce a little something for a local Cadillac dealership - and will until the owner retires and sell - which will happen in a few more years. At that point all the computers used for business will be fully retired along with us.
