After I graduated in 1990, I finished up my Army AIT, signed up for active duty and deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm with the 101st Airborne Division. After I came back, I lived at Ft Campbell until 1996 when I was sent to Korea for a year. In 1997, I was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division in Ft Drum, New York. I worked as a Pre-Ranger Instructor, then Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and Platoon Leader while I was there. In late 2000, I was reassigned as a Drill Sergeant in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. I worked there until I was reassigned in 2002 to the 4th Infantry Division in Ft Hood, TX. While I was stationed there, I deployed to Tikrit, Iraq in 2003 for a year (you can read that story if you want in "We Got Him! A Memoir of the Hunt and Capture of Saddam Hussein" by Steve Russell) where I worked primarily supervising a Personal Security Detachment for LTC Steve Russell (Senator for Oklahoma's 45th District).
