Gilda's Story

Hi, everybody! After leaving Western, I went to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and got got my Bachelor's in Psychology and a teaching certificate in Early Childood Education, graduating in 1974, while exploring my life as a flower child. I began to teach in day care centers and married Eric Wiberg in 1976. Sadly, soon after we were married, my father passed away on April 30, 1977. We moved swveral times in the Baltimore area, moved to Philadelphia for a year and then moved back to Baltimore. I began to teach Pre-kindergarten for Baltimore City Public Schools in 1979. We had Tiffani Rose on November 5, 1983. After years of difficulties, Eric and I divorced in 1989. I have never remarried. I spent most of my teaching life at Dr. Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, earning a "Master's Equivalency" degree. I retired in 2001. My mother passed away on January 21, 2002 and Tiffani was killed in a car accident...Expand for more
(with Dick Gelfman) on July 14, 2002, just 6 months later. As you can imagine, that was pretty devasting, and I went through a very hard time for a while after that. I am getting myself together more now with the help of good friends (my family is very small, and live out of town). I have a 7 year old "sheltie-poo" named CoCo, a big, fat, red, 9 year old tabby named Tangerine, a beautiful 4 1/2 year old tortoise-shell named Princess and a very handsome 1/2 gray and 1/2 whit 8 month old kitten named Mischief. These fur babies and my friends are my family now! I still love classic rock and roll and the Beatles and going to concerts,also like Josh Groban, and bluegrass music, and going to concerts. I also enjoy camping, the beach, and going to Oriole games (sorry, I don't really understand football, but I root for the Ravens! LOL) I have kept in touch with a few of you, but would love to here from more of you. Sign my guestbook!
