Stephen's Story

I am most proud to have a lovely wife of thirty-nine years, three wonderful children and one grand daughter now a freshman in high school. I have spent the last thirty plus years serving the country or the public either in military service ( active and reserve ) or in civilian law enforcement and criminal justice. At this age and approaching a second retirement, it gives one pause to attempt to reconnect with those we knew when we were younger . Several people have asked me about putting more of the military history in the profile. It became quite lengthy and not of any real use to list each of the different reserve assignments over the years. I thought that I would simply summarize the service this way: Enlisted 1966 - 1968 PVT/E-1 SGT/E-5 Commissioned 1968 - 1993 2LT/O-1 LTC/O-5 There were assignments in Topeka, Osage City, Wichita and Hays in Kansas. Period of Active Duty Training and mobilization training during 1969 and then assignments in Texas. Command a company in Bay City with numerous assignments to a Transportation Terminal Battalion in Houst...Expand for more
on for eight years as a captain and then major. I was asked to go on active duty for a short tour with the 1st ID on REFORGER in 1981, reportedly they had a shortage of Transportation and Logistics field grade officers to support that REFORGER sequence. It was great training. Upon returning to my regular assignment with the Houston battalion the next year right after the birth of my last child, we were activated and deployed to the Republic of South Korea for operational reinforcement and assignment to MTMC Pusan. I was then assigned against an active duty slot on the MOBTDA to Fort Rucker, Alabama for the last seven years of my career. During this period I had a deployment to Honduras and also supported Desert Shield as a deployment control officer. I thought it would be more facilitative to cover it briefly like this than to have about fifteen different community entries with no substantial information in any case. It was a meaningful career and have many fond memories. Even the most unpleasant now have fond memories espeically of the people and different places. GO ARMY ........
