Gina's Story

I didn't really go to Madison except for a week or so. I went to Whitman elementary and Einstein jr high but wrote Madison also because that is where most of the people I would know went. I can't believe I'm even writing on here. Anyway, I have had what it seems many different lives. School was crazy and unfortunately I never took it serious enough. I sure wish I would have. Even though I have to admit I had a lot of fun during the school years. Later,I went to college for about a year, still partied too much and ended up working full time and quit school. Wish I never would have quit school. Anyway, I try not to live in the past. Went through a few boyfriends until I finally grew up! Eventually I married my boyfriend from my teenage years, though we didn't get back together until 1992 (I was 26!) and married in 1994, had 3 girls and eventually moved out here to Missouri in March of 2002. Oh my God what was I thinking! I do love the nature, seasons, and beauty of the town we live in, but being a small town, you are really an outsider if you didn't grow up here. I have met many really nice people here though, but in the 6 years we have been here, we have had major tragedy in our family. To try to make this short, my 13 year old daughter, Brianna has had a struggle with illnesses, but seems to be doing okay right now. Of course sadness overwhelms her as it does me do to losing Brooke, my 8 year old daughter, to a horrible brain stem tumor on September, 2007. My other daughter, Brittany is 10 and still misses her sister (and best friend) Brooke as well. We are all struggling ...Expand for more
with living life without her. Some days are unbearable and I just can't believe it is true. Others, I just remember Brooke's strength and try to carry it with me. The three of them were so close and had such a strong sisterly bond. They are all brown hair, brown eyed and beautiful. Brooke was diagnosed Aug. 29, 2006, 13 months before she made her way to Heaven. She was only 7 when we recieved the news that she was going to die in the time of 5 months to 1 and a half years at most. All she had was a bad headache and was currently doing well in gymnastics. It was a nightmare trying to take in news like that. It was shattering our world as we knew it. From that day on our life would never be the same. Brian and I grew further apart and I held on to Brooke with all my life until the day she died in my arms. In January I moved out and Brian and I separated (4 months after losing our precious daughter). There were other factors that contributed to the decision. So currently I live with my other two daughters, am in college for nursing earning my bachelors degree and am eventually planning to move back to San Diego. First I hope to move to St. Louis to be closer to the college. My drive is an hour and a half each way, 4 days a week. I need to be home more with the girls and so I need to cut out that drive. Also the price of gas is outrageous and I can't afford it. Anyway that is enough for now. There is way too much in my life to type up here. I have a website on Caringbridge.org that was started to keep friends and family updated on Brooke's condition. I still write in it. Gina
