Gina's Story
Life
I'm married and live in southern California with my husband David. We have two sons, Keith and Christopher. They both live close by, but frequently drop in to raid the frig and wash their cars. Keith emerged from the womb a "dyed in the wool Orange County Republican" but Chris is a Liberal throw back to the '60s. It always amazes me how totally different they are.
I like to say that we own a cat, but the truth is, she owns us. She is a blue eyed, seal point rag doll, with an attitude. I always tell her that she is lucky she was born beautiful because she would starve to death if she had to survive on her personality.
Since school, I have continued to draw, paint, and write. I produce a line of handpainted chidren's furniture and I am also working with a literary agent to have my children's stories published.
I teach Special Education students at a local high school, and I love it. It may be crazy at times, but it's never boring.
Anyone will tell you that the biggest perk for ...Expand for more
teachers is having summers off. It gives me the freedom to travel for extended periods, something I take full advantage of.
During the school year, my free time is spent with my family and friends, cheering for the Lakers, taking short trips to the east coast, driving trips and events with our Corvette club, going to the theater, antiqueing, gardening, and reading.
Though there are things that I would still like to do with my life, if I don't accomplish those goals I will be able to live with myself.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Robin Dennis, because she is the only link left to my glory days.
The road from "back then" to "where I am now" has had its detours and roadblocks. That's just the powers that be telling me not to get too cocky. So,I don't take the life I live for granted. I count my blessings every day, especially the three men in my life: David, Keith and Chris. They are my salvation, what keeps me sane, why each new day is an adventure.
