Ginnee's Story
Life
Married to Phil Hancock. We are developing a sustainable reforestation project in Esperanza de Turrialba, rural South Central Costa Rica with a focus on the propagation of industrial bamboo and biodynamic permaculture. Information can be found if you google my name, Ginnee Hancock Esperanza Costa Rica. Phil and I look forward to hearing from you.
My husband Phil (Stranahan) and I have been working to help keep the rural children in school. Most rural children do not have an opportunity to go past 6th grade. If we are ever to save the forests (rain, cloud and dry) we must educate the children.
Why should you care? The worlds forests (or lack of them) directly impacts your quality of life via water supply, medicines known and yet to be discovered and the survival of animal species including humans just to name a few.
Humans are responsible for destroying the forests of the world. In Latin America we destroyed them to graze cows so that we could have cheap ground beef at our fast food restaurants. We destroyed, slashed and burned, the natural habitat for the animals. Without the habita...Expand for more
t the animals do not disperse the tree and plant seeds and species of both animal and plant become extinct.
That is the quick version of a long saga. I hope you are interested and will act. When you go to vacation, please bring pencils, story books and educational materials for the children. Inexpensive Spanish/English dictionaries and books are greatly appreciated. The rural children have no books in their classrooms. Consider donating your laptop computer to an organization teaching the children. Many children have never seen a computer. If you do not know who to donate to, please contact me. We work with our local Mission who has a 501c3.
We hope that you will come and visit, we have more than 20 waterfalls on our land and a beautiful view of Volcan Turrialba. our days are warm and nights are cool . Phil and I are designing a sustainable eco-village. Our place has a very interesting history documented by a local university professor. It is in Spanish, we hope to have it translated so that we can share it with non-native speakers.
Ciao, Ginnee Prescott Hancock, Class of 66 and Phil Hancock
