Gladys's Story
Life
After graduating from high school, I attended Lamson Business College. Married and had one daughter with my first husband. Worked for General Electric as a legal secretary until 1969 at which time we moved to San Diego, CA, and there I worked for a very large law firm and lived in San Diego for 12 years. We divorced in 1973 and I was a single parent until 1979, when I met a fine Southern Gentleman from Birmingham, AL. We married and moved to Idaho. He developed heart problems and became very ill in Idaho; but after five years was well enough to move back to Alabama in 1984 where I have lived ever since. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated and was bedridden the last 10 years of his life and I was forced to retire as a legal secretary and became a 24/7 caregiver. He passed away in 1997. me which is an old 2-story farmhouse in the woods with a quarter horse, mule, 8 dogs, 25 cats, 2 pot-bellied pigs, and 25 birds (parakeets & finches) as well as the deer, wild turkeys, possums, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, etc., and loving every minute of my life now!
Workplace
I currently work part-time for an environmental company in Birmingham, Alabama. I had to go to school to become a certified smoke emissions reader for the EPA. I work only one week a month, but am paid very well for what I do. My contract will expire in October 2005, and do not plan to renew at that time. Just getting too old to work anymore. In December 2002, I fell down some steps and broke my back in two places, and have had problems ever since. So will finish up and then just relax and take care of all of my animals out here in the woods!! Anytime any of my classmates want to email me, I would love to hear from you!!
