Life
Hi to all who venture here. After DHS, off to PDH in E'ville and college, off to San Diego, Ca and still here in the burbs. Worked about 20 yrs in Acute care hospital, OR/ER/Post anesthesia while starting family of 2 boys/1 girl. Six years after arrival here, Jack and I started and automotive business, which has now been turned over to son #2. Did bkkp. and accounting for business for all these years, can't seem to get rid of the job. At 50. decided I wanted to return to nursing, first love, and became an evaluator of Health Care Facilities,(HFEN)for the state and federal gov. The job entailed evaluating all aspects of quality of care, citing facilities for poor care and authority to open or close hospitals. Also investigating all complaints and special incidents occuring within the hospitals.I worked primarily in acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and clinics. Also did stints in nursing homes, home health and psychiatric facilities. Thats the Nursing side. During my active automotive years, was involved in state and national legislative affairs as a rep from SD, and served our auto association women as local state and national president. I traveled a lot speaking on behalf of independent auto association, amd testified before various agencies, Bureau of Auto Repair, CCC, and Congress committies. g vulunteers, and introducing speakers. I was a wonderful experience and prepared me for my nursing later nursing role of speaking before hospital admidistrators and autitoriums of staff. The children have done well, in spite of my mothering (old school), Two don't have any children, One has had 2, and each of those two have made me a great-grandmother, 1 boy,1 girl. California has been very good to us, but I still have my Indiana values, which is a very good place to be from. I still keep in touch with some Dale classmates, many of my Deaconnes friends, 6 which with husbands meet periodically around the country, and many have visited here. We have a group of friends that play together at the Charger games, super bowl, special events, holidays, and Palm Desert at our condo's. We take care of one another as most of us are transplants from around the contry, In,oh,ill, mo, pa, and we have planted our roots here. We have enjoyed good health most of the time and been blessed to travel a lot of places, which i really love. 2years ago i had a stroke, i was lucky, can still move all 4's, '04 bout with colon cancer, chemo, and now doing well, hope all who reads this has had a colonoscopy, as i had no symptoms, just noticed i was weak while walking on the great wall of China.(It is very steep in some places) Was in the midwest this spring, and off to Europe this fall, God willing.
