Glenda's Story

Life After graduating from Mehlville, I just worked different jobs and helped several friends with their children. As the saying goes always a bridesmaid never a bride. Then in 1991 at the age of 36, I meet a wonderful, caring man whose name was Richard Palmer. He thought he was a confirmed bachelor. We were brought together by a computer service called Singles Telephone. Well, needless to say it was a match made in heaven. Within 3 months we were engaged, on the day we meet a year later were married. We enjoyed so much together. One of our greatest gifts in our lives was being foster parents for Teenagers, from broken homes. My life with him was truly a blessing plus a dream come true Then, May 2006 my world was met with great tragedy. I came home; found my beloved husband not breathing faced down on a bed. He had passed away from a massive heart attack, at the age of 51. Extremely in shock I was very devastated. I felt like my world had fallen apart, plus I couldn't believe, I was the last of my friends to get married but the first to lose a spouse. 2006 became the year that I really grew up as a person. Within 5 months of Rick's passing. I lost my close plus dearest classmate friend Trudy Madden Nickles; to a rejection from a liver transplant she had in 2004. Within 6 weeks of being diagnosis with lung cancer, my loving caring older brother Donald Ross passed away as well. I never question why this happening to me. I just went, an did some serious grief counseling alone; and then group counseling. Taking this direction in my life was exactly what made me the person I am today. You learn so much from grief. It does become a reality that death really changes your life forever. By the end of 2006, my life had changed again. This time great happiness came my way. I meet someone in my grief counseling, who also experience the same tragedies of death in 2006 as well. His name is Kenneth Pyatt who becomes my husband in June 2007. We found out we have lived right by each other growing up. Had traveled, plus lived in some of the same places throughout our lives. We knew it was a higher power that brought us together, no matter what anyone thought about it being way too soon. We now have 3 dogs, Kendra 12 years old, Rae-Jeen 9 yrs. old, both are Border Collies, Gwenneth a Choc. Lab/Mix 7 years old. We are also raising Chickens & Guinea's. Right now we have 15 Chickens of all varieties, 4 Guinea's and one Rooster . It is only quiet at The Pyatt Farm when all are sleeping. Ken and I are both retired. I have completed a lung study at St Luke's Hospital. This continues to be monitor on a monthly basis through several doctors at St. Luke’s Hospital. I have lost several relatives on my Dad side to the disease. Along with me having severe pneumonia which was missed diagnosis as severe cold. Due to severe health issues, plus several surgeries; I am happy to say with great doctors I am doing pretty well now. Ken (MY Husband) is now going through...Expand for more
Lung Cancer treatments. He has the same doctors who were able to take care of me. This has been going on since April 9, 2019. I am happy to say he is still improving through all the Great Doctors and Nurses at St. Luke's Hospital right now. (2020) Tumor has shrink a lot, plus he soon will having the pleura drain removed, with in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the next improvement will be, he won't have to be on oxygen anymore. We decided to leave the big city in Fenton 2010. Move to Warrenton, Mo enjoying the country life with lots of peace, quite, with neighbors 6-10 acres away. We have 6 acres with an acre pond stocked with lots of fish along with raising Chickens & Guinea's on our property. I never knew how funny Chickens can be especially when you have a Silky Rooster who name is Moe keeping all those Hens in order. This has been as close to our dream home as if we had built it ourselves. I was never blessed with children in my first marriage. I am a step mother, plus mother-in-law to total; 6 grown children which also has made me a step-grandmother to their children. Also a Step Great-Grandmother too. Our lives have been richly blessed so much, since we were brought together by grief. Love is so Grand in our Golden Years.. Never imagine how happy and complete my life would be. I still see several classmates that I meet through different grade schools and high school. I have stayed in touch, which has developed into some really great friendships with 5 of the teachers from Junior High & Senior High School. They have always been there to guide me, toward the correct path of life. They all have shown me that even though my home life growing up wasn't so great. I am still worth having a marvelous life. I will always be grateful for their love and support they have given me, plus how much I can count on them in my life today whenever I need to. On March 13, 2021 I became a widow for the second time. My beloved husband Kenneth Pyatt passed away from septic due to all the treatment he received from having Lung Cancer. It has been a part of life I don't really care for. I am doing well just trying to take care of my land an my dogs. On October 11, 2021 Kendra my oldest Border Collie went to Heaven. I also am down to 9 Chickens , hope to get more.. Update 07/30/2022 . Workplace I worked in the Medical Field for 37 years, plus worked with some of the same Personnel at different Medical Offices. I am glad I chose this field, keeping up with all the new medical technology to make sure you are not overcharged; for services performed by doctors or hospitals is truly helpful in our golden years Being on the committee of pass reunions has truly been a pleasure. It helps you stay in contact with some of your former classmates, which I try to keep all classmates informed on any activity of what is being planned for future events. Hope to see some of you in September 30,2023 for Reunion Dinner. Again on October 1, 2023 at the 50th Reunion Picnic.
