Glenn's Story

Catch 'em up on what you've done and who you are. Currently living in Southlake, TX I went to UMKC and then Longview CC. I was married in '72 and divorced in '96. We had 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl. We lived in KC then Shawnee. I spent several years in retail then in '83 got into the technology sector with a start-up. In '88 we moved from Shawnee to Issaquah, WA where I went to work for Microsoft. In 91, Microsoft moved us to Dallas, TX to start a new business team. In '93 I left Microsoft and spent the next 7 yrs hanging out and traveling (& getting divorced). In 2000 I got back into technology with a few new .com startups and eventually ended up re-connecting with some old Microsoft buddies. My youngest son lives with his mom in Naples, FL, my oldest is in Costa Rica and my daughter is married living in the Denver area with 2 girls and one on the way. My middle son died in a tragic car wreck in Nov of '96 while going to school at Central Washington. I'm currently working for a Software company based in California. My SO and I live on a couple of acres with 2 dogs and 2 horses. She has a 20yr old son, a thriving designer business and life is great. I travel quite a bit for my job so if I know where you are we might just be able to connect. I hope life is going well for you too.......... Starting a new phase since writing the above profile. The Company I was working for was acquired and five months later we parted ways as they wanted to "move in a new direction..". So, I just signed a 60 day deal with a new start-up in Sacramento which I hope becomes something permanent. Well,it's a new year and a new phase. The opportunity above didn't work out for a variety of reasons and we parted ways last October. I'm starting a new one the first week of January. It is a small successful software company based in DC that is bringing a new product to market. I'm joining the team to bring that product to market and focus on jump starting sales. Well, time for another new chapter. The SW company in DC decided to move in the services direction vs selling packaged product. So, we parted ways in October of last year. That has however lead me to...Expand for more
what I feel may be my best opportunity yet. Sometimes you reach a point where you say....everything up to this point has lead me here. The new company is about a year old. Airborne Media Group. It has a patent pending technology that allows any customer in any venue to privately listen to the sound from any TV in the venue on their smartphone. Once the technology is installed in the venue it becomes a local, regional and national advertising and social media platform. Ever been to a sports bar with lots of TVs and no sound for the game you wanted to watch? Well, now you can. I'll be building a sales & distribution strategy and team starting in the US and moving out from there. There's already a lot of buzz. The company is about to close out its Angel funding and then use that success to move to round two. I'm really looking forward to this new challenge. Well....we were successful with sales and distribution but the product turned out to be a "nice to have" vs a "need to have" in the hospitality market. That, plus high costs and reliability challenges caused me to decide to move on... After several years working with start ups I decided to move in a different direction and went to work for a very large SW company ($5B & 19k employees) out of the Netherlands in 2015. It was quite satisfying to be named "rookie of the year" in my first year...especially at this stage of my career. Now, in 2018, I'm on my 3rd role and division with the company. Interestingly enough the current role is with a small "start up" division the company bought a few years back. It has grown by double digits since the acquisition. I'm looking forward to working with this smaller team (40 employees), learning new products and markets. On the personal side things continue to go well. Nancy's designer business is extremely successful. We've now been in Southlake, TX over 20 years and last year decided to become boat owners again. We keep our 33ft Doral on Grapevine Lake close by. My kids are successful in their own right and living in Denver, CO and Leavenworth, WA. My granddaughters are growing up too fast and I don't see them often enough. Life is good...
