Glenn's Story
After I graduated from Halls High, I went to UT and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1979. From there, I started my architecture career in -- Clarksdale, Mississippi! (75 miles due south of Memphis.) I worked there for 2 years, then got a job in Nashville designing hospitals, schools, and psychiatric treatment centers. Later, with another firm I also designed nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and medical office buildings. In 1990, I moved back to Knoxville (after a short stint in Tampa, Florida) and worked designing industrial buildings, commercial buildings and custom ...Expand for more
homes.
By 1995 it was getting harder to find work, so I went to Pellissippi State and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associates degree in computer science. This was when the Y2K scare was on, so I wasn't able to find any work. I worked for a while with a company that makes glasses and lenses and delivers them throughout the Eastern half of Tennessee.
By this time I decided to return to UT for a degree in accounting, but I ended up with a Bachelor's degree in Management and International Business. Later I may get an M.B.A. For now, and probably till I retire, I am working as a financial advisor.
