Glenna's Story
Well, what can I say? It was 1970 and I worked hard, but I also partied a lot. A sign of the times, remember? I married a strong, warm and loving man, Richard Kay in 1974. Our one and only child, Shane was born in 1976. He grew into the man his father was, and then some (strong, warm and loving). I lost my husband, and best friend of 32 years when he passed away from Esophogeal Cancer in January of 2007. I spend time either working, or enjoying family and friends. Everyday is a gift, and I remain positive, despite the challenges of life.
In the 80's, I went back to school and became a Psychologist, thinking I would work in private practice one day. Twenty-two years ago, I dabbled in the Social Sciences with the University of Michigan, and accepted a job with the Institute of Social Research at U of M. I became fascinated with the Sociology research field, and I now manage a project for the government. I am a Liaison for the Drug Abuse Warning Network, a department of the Federal Health and Human Services/WESTAT. People that work for me collect da...Expand for more
ta in Hospital Emergency Departments and Coroners offices throughout the country. My main goal with this work is to make a difference that will hopefully save or improve a few lives along the way.
I am a flower child at heart, even though I wear a suit, and have changed with the times. I still carry the message of the late 60's of choosing love and not war, of doing things in a peaceful way and in loving your fellow man. I believe in equality and in the unity of true brother and sisterhood, and that we are all one race, the human race. Forty years have passed, and like everyone else, I have learned from most of my mistakes, and grown from my experiences, but I am still a work in progress. Through this process, I hope I have become a better person along the way.
I remember partying with friends in the early 70's and we would have deep talks regarding life, why were we here and what was this all about? I am convinced that I know the answer now. It is to love, unconditionally, without judgement and regardless of the situation!
Ok, enough... :).
