Gloria's Story

Wow! Where did 50 years go? Here is my side of things. I married my husband, Richard, of 47 years right out of high school. He passed away in 2009. Together, we had five outstanding children (2 sons and 3 daughters), and now have 14 grandchildren plus 4 great grandchildren. Needless to say, my life so far, has been quite a journey. I did not pursue a formal education past high school; but, I have been greatly blessed with my wonderful family and I am still learning from each of them. I have been employed as Office Manager for a small sub-contracting company here in Phoenix for 16+ years. My oldest son, Rick, is a CW5 stationed at Fort Drum, NY and is currently completing his 3rd deployment in Afghanistan as a Blackhawk/Chinook pilot. In October of 2012, I had the privilege of attending his award ceremony for 2011 Army Aviation Pilot of the Year! He has earned numerous awards and commendations during his nearly 30 years of service protecting our freedoms in America. Whenever I express pride and respect for his accomplishments, he responds: "Aw, Mom, it's just my job". Well, I for one am really glad he takes his "job" so seriously. So pro...Expand for more
ud of him! My oldest daughter, Cindy, is working in the accounting department of a major global construction company and will complete her 18th year at the end of 2013. My "middle" daughter has been associated with the Personal Lines Insurance industry for 25+ years; and, in 2011, she and her husband celebrated a Vows Renewal Ceremony for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. My youngest daughter, Connie, obtained her teaching diploma in 20 10 from ASU, and is completing her third year as a First Grade Teacher with the Litchfield Elementary School District. My youngest son, Paul, graduated from ASU in 1998 with a degree in Construction Engineering. He has worked for 15 years for a major construction company here in Phoenix and was recently promoted to Manager of Operations for Arizona, Southern Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado. He was the Senior Project Engineer for many of the road improvements throughout the Valley and State of Arizona. I am lucky enough to have all my children, except Rick - who lives in New York, and grandchildren living here in the Phoenix Metro area. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such a successful, loving family!
