Gloria's Story
After High School I went to business school. I worked for Sakowitz (wow that seems so long ago) I met my husband at a Catholic Young Adults Club in the fall of 1961. We married 2 years later. We had 4 children together and I became the typical Mom on wheels, PTA, Pee Wee football, Soccer, baseball, Dance classes Mom and Chauffer while my children were growing up. My ex-husband and I lived in Pasadena after we got married and we got into the Restaurant business. We eventually came up north to Conroe, where our last son was born. We were married 23 years. We divorced when our youngest was a sophmore in High school. In 1983 I decided I wanted to learn more about the Travel industry as I had a friend who was in this business. After taking some courses at U of H I joined a Travel Agency in Conroe as an outside sales agent. After my divorce in 1987 my two younger children and I moved to the west side of Houston. I continued working as a Travel Agent until 1991 then moved on to the vendor side and began working for a cruise Line in Jan. 1992, My last position was with Norwegian Cruise Line...Expand for more
as Business Development Manager for the states of Texas, Oklahoma, W. Louisiana and Arkansas. I retired earlier this year. I can honestly say this was a total awesome experience. I have made some lasting friendships, and I was able to travel . This afforded me the opportunity to meet many diverse people, and cultures while cruising to some of the most beautiful places both here in the U.S and Europe. I never imagined I would have an opportunity to have such a wonderful experience.
I am committed to my family, friends and church. Since retiring I have become more involved in various ministries at my Parish and have come to meet and become friends with some very caring and loving people. I am truly blessed, and I count my blessings every day. "God is Good all the time, All the time God is Good!"
My 4 children are now all grown, married and amongst all 4 I have 11 grandchildren which of course I think they are the best. I try to spend some of my time enjoying them. I love to read, watch old movies, go antiquing, garden and cook and yes I still like to travel when I have the opportunity!
