Gloria's Story

Briefly, I went into psychology- first teaching it at college and then working professionally as a psychologist. I moved to New Orleans about 20 years ago and married in 1991. Joel and I adopted a baby girl, Kate, who is now 14 years old. After my parents died in San Diego, I used some of my inheritance to found and operate a Golden Retriever rescue for four years. In late 2004 Joel was very seriously injured in a car wreck. Having barely recovered from that, he was still battling kidney stones when Hurricane Katrina hit. We evacuated to TX for three months but our home was largely untouched. Since Katrina I have worked at a local PetSmart as a pet training instructor. ...Expand for more
Joel died suddenly in January 2008, leaving me with a 14-year-old daughter and a menagerie of animals. I shall be shifting to part-time work at PetSmart so that I can return to clinical psychology practice, and better make ends meet. I wish that I could attend the 2008 CHS reunion, but there is no way I can afford it. I have never stopped missing San Diego. The only traveling that I've done in the last few years (other than hurricane evacuations) is to visit daughter Kate, who, since September 2007, has been attending a residential school in mid-Arizona. I'd love to hear from former classmates. You can contact me via my first initial and last name at cox dot net.
