Goksel's Story

I studied at BU, AS A Fullbright Scholarship Grantee between 1960-1962..After having graduated from BU SFAA with a Master of Fine Arts degree, I went back to my home country Turkey, whereI had been living in Istanbul, my hometown, ever since...I have had a very successful life in show business as an actress, director, and dubbing artist. I also translate plays into Turkish from English and French. I am mainly a legit actress but I also do TV and some films and radio.. ..After 47 years in show business, I dare say that I can be considered as a celebrity..I also did some acting in England and am one of the few actors in the world who had the chance to act both at the Old Vic and the Aldwych Theatres in London, which is considered a very prestigious thing among us actors.. t 15 years I also had been working as a drama and acting instructor in some universities and conservatories...About %70 of my students are now famous actors on TV and in the theatre, of which I am very proud.. After a very happy 25 year marriage, I lost my beloved husband, who also was a famous actor and singer, in a horrible terror attack in November 2003... I acted as the President of Turkish Theatre Actors' Association for 15 years..I was the founding President of the first Lioness Club in Turkey, in 1974 and has been working with them ever since.. I acted as the Head of Judges of several most respected theatre awards in Turkey, etc. etc... One of my main interests is travelling which I did widely and still do.. My hobby is painting glass, doing puzzles, and sewing sequins.....
