Gale 's Story
LIFE
Was married 37 years to high school boyfriend, Ed Boots Tiemann. We divorced, he moved in Florida, and sadly passed away January 2, 2008. I have remarried to a wonderful man, Daniel Fielding. Have 5 grown children - 4 daughters and 1 son. and 12 grandangels - 10 girls and 2 boys. (Obviously I have the market on girls.) Though I've lived in North Carolina (2 years) and Florida (1 1/2 years), and resided in Simi Valley, I always seem to migrate back to Van Nuys. Three of my children attended Van Nuys High School, but 2 were able to attend Birmingham. I thought it was real cool. They were in the Marching Band and it was when BHS students were still the Braves. I was so proud!
Dan & I met a few years ago, he is a much younger man, born the year we graduated from Birmingham. I never thought I'd ever marry again, particularly a younger man, but he is the love of my life. He graduated from North Hollywood High.
My sister, Gerrie (Gomez) Dodd, now lives in Oregon. She is my best friend, though we don't have the contact we did when she lived here in Van Nuys.
SCHOOL
The teacher who inspired me the most and whom I loved dearly was Max Berkovitz. I can't say...Expand for more
I remember any particular BIG crush, though there were some good looking guys in our class & I would dream of one maybe asking me out, though I was always one of the unknown, unpopular girls. Would I do it over again? Absolutely not and I would certainly NOT be a teenager again. It's not easy, for the kids or the parents. I pity my parents for having had to raise me. Also, what goes around, comes around (I am a firm believer in karma) because I had daughters who seemed to follow in my footsteps and give me the headaches I gave my parents. :)
As mentioned in my life profile, 2 daughters attended Birmingham and were proud members of the BHS Braves Marching Band. I used to attend many of the football games as a proud Mom, but it was so great to see Mr. Ramirez out on the football field, bringing back so many memories. One day I was attending a parent's meeting at Birmingham and ran across Ms. Snyder. Though I learned to appreciate her during my last years at Birmingham, w-a-a-ay back in Jr. High, she so terrified me in PE. I had thought of her as a big, frightening person, yet when I saw her once again, I realized that she was just this tiny little woman.
