Jim's Story

Life A very brief life history since high school: college at Susquehanna University ('66); one year at DuPont, joined the navy to avoid the draft and stayed 6+ years: San Diego, the Bahamas (tough duty) and Hawaii (also tough). Married and had two childern in the early 70s (Jon, now in communications with a semiconductor firm in CA and Sandra, a newly minted lawyer in NC)...Expand for more
. Went back to school at Oregon State University after the navy for a masters in Oceanography, worked for four years on the Columbia River estuary, divorced, back to OSU for PhD in Geography. Have been a professor at OSU since 1980 in Oceanography. Good work, good wife (got remarried), good town, good life. Looking forward to retirement in 2003, and starting something new!

Waiting for totality...
Three minutes to totality!
OMG - not evening already- didn't see this coming.
My best shot... I'll have to steal some good ones off the net. Totality was amazing. No epiphanies, however. Was so hoping.
Janet has a new persona... the puppers will freak out, ya think?
Just finished my new multipurpose wellhead cover, made with coopered redwood staves, with iron straps salvaged from the old rotted-out cover. Perfect as a birdbath too.
Introducing my new titanium bike... finally. Got this in late July and I love it. A bit more nimble than my steel touring tank. Understatement. Out for a spin today- the last two weeks or so have had glorious fall weather.
