Gorason G.'s Story
Life
I've been retired since 10/1999  my wife retired one year before me and at that time we were both enjoying life without work. I have no plans or desire to work again  been there done that! My wife of 29 years Anh, (now deceased) was born in Saigon, Vietnam and we have 2 children (grown).
In September/2007 our daughter was sworn in as an assistant prosecutor within the State of New Jersey. Last June/06 she graduated Magnum cum Laude from Seton Hall Law School and was inducted to the New Jersey Bar November 29, 2006 (she also passed the New York Bar). Our son received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Delaware in 2006 and is currently working in Insurance (risk management).
After high school and military service I got a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State University and later a MBA from Baldwin Wallace College. After college I began with Ford Motor Company in Labor Relations - changed careers after a few years, and started in Product Management at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company. I made a career in Telecommunications and retired a manager of Internal Auditing for Lucent Technologies after spending 7 years in International Auditing  one year in South America and the rest in Asia. We lived 3 years in Hong Kong and had the opportunity to travel throughout the Asia/Pacific Region.
We now live both in New Jersey and Bangkok, Thailand. The mix of both of these locations or should I say Âworlds continue to make life fun and interesting.
If someone were to ask me Âwhat is the best thing I have ever done since high school I would have to say "getting marriedÂ, if the next question was Âwhat is your greatest accomplishment I would have to say  "our two kids". Of course it has noÂt been a bed of roses and there were many trials along the way but IÂm as happy now as any other time in my life and fully aware with each passing day...Expand for more
how blessed I have been.
After a three-year long and hard battle with cancer, my beloved wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter, Anh Luu Lloyd passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 21, 2008.
Although Anh considered Mendham to be her home, she was born and raised in Saigon. Soon after graduating from high school, she received a full-tuition scholarship to attend Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. She went on to graduate summa cum laude with a degree in Math and Accounting in 1973. Her first job was at the East Ohio Gas Company. She stayed there for a few years before going on to Ohio Bell. It was during this time that she completed her MBA at Cleveland State University. Soon after, in 1982, she was promoted to a position at AT&T in New Jersey. She remained in-state until her 1994 relocation to Hong Kong with her family. She retired there in 1998. Post-retirement, Anh was the CFO for Personal Mail International until her illness required her full attention.
When you look over a person's life oftentimes it is easiest to measure success in terms of what that person did for themselves. But, another way of measuring success is by what that person did for others. Anh was able to bring her entire family to America, a land of promise and opportunity, and make sure that things were right for them after they arrived. Her family has grown to nineteen members, with all her brothers and sisters in the midst of successful careers, as well as their own children set to follow in their footsteps. There's an old saying, "give and you shall receive," and while Anh gave a tremendous amount of her time and energy to help others along their way - she received much love and satisfaction in return.
Anh's kindness and love will be missed by all fortunate enough to have received it, and her memory will last as long as we have the strength to speak.
