Gordon's Story
My 41st, and last, commercial fishing season here in Alaska will come to an end in about a month, and I will be retiring at the end of April, 2016. There is at least one, and maybe two books to write about the last 41 years with the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game!. I will be headed to Northern CA or southern OR, somewhere near the Klamath River valley, and probably near the coast. Alaska will always be part of me, but I don't need to shovel any more snow!. And I won't miss the fish politics. Doesn't matter where it is...Expand for more
, Maine, Cape Cod, WA, OR, or CA, fish politics are numbing, and the only fish I will think about is the one on the end of my fishing rod, or later, when it is on the dinner table in front of me. Commercial fishing is about unlimited wants chasing limited resources, and that is an economic, not a biological, principle. Retirement is not about quitting work, it is about doing something new and different, new places, new people to meet. It is time. I will do my best to keep this updated, and I wish you all well! Gordie.
