Grace's Story
After my family moved to Hagerstown, Maryland in 1964 due to my father going to work for Mack Truck there... I graduated from high school after just my senior year there in Hagerstown. Big school! Overwhelming for a lil' ol' country gal from Pennsylvania to say the least. But I survived. I have always wished I had taken up my aunt's offer when she said I could live with her and finish my senior year at good ol' Adams Hi.
Took a 4 month medical assistant course in Washington DC, then went to work at Fort Detrick as a biological aide for several years. Then, like an idiot, I quit to get married and have babies like a good little Catholic girl. After being an Amy wife for 26 years including spending 3 years in Germany and the remainder at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, GA. where I worked 14 years in federal clerical jobs, I took a medical transcription course, quit the government, and worked for hospitals. In 2005 my husband and I divorced, and I move...Expand for more
d to Columbia, South Carolina, where my older daughter's family lives. Here I remain! I am now retired and collecting Social Security like many baby boomers.
Did many of you get to the 50 year reunion? My brother Louis notified me and gave me phone numbers for Helen, Terry, and Katie, but I procrastinated too long about deciding to attend and missed the opportunity. Please post some pictures from the reunion so I can see if all the girls look as old as me and if all the guys are fat and bald or gray now. I do not like being old but am trying to adjust since there is not much to be done about it.....
Somehow Classmates has Dolores Ambrose picture as me on this site where it talks about yearbooks. If I can figure out how to contact Classmates I will inquire how that happened. Soon I will put an updated picture as the blonde woman in my profile picture was me about a decade ago.
Hope to hear back from some of you!
