Grant's Story
After graduating from Proviso, I attended NIU and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I taught Physical Education in Berkeley School District 87 for 12 years (1979-1991). During that time, I also coached football for 10 years at Proviso West (1980-1989). What a blast it was coaching with my former coaches!!! I also went back to NIU to get my Masters of Science degree with an endorsement in Educational Administration. In 1991, I became an Assistant Superintendent for Berkeley School District 87. I held that position for 22 years. After a wonderful 34 year career in Berkeley, I retired in July 2013. Since then, I have opened my own business as an Education Facilities Consultant, consulting in a number of school districts and partnering with excellent companies such as Performance Services, Inc., Vanguard Energy Services and Studio GC Architects.
NOW THE FUN PART - In 1980, I re-met Linda Reynolds at a small neighborhood bar in Chicago. We married in 1981. We have 2 GREAT sons. Grant Jr. (1984) and Kevin (1987). Both played football on some excellent teams. They played from the youth level through college. What a thrill it was to watch them play!! ...Expand for more
They both taught and coached for a period of time. Now, Grant left teaching and is very successful in the "corporate" world. Kevin is still teaching and coaching high school football. Kevin also founded his business, F.I.S.T. Football Academy. He provides football showcases and camps and conducts private lessons and training, primarily for offensive and defensive linemen of all ages (youth football -pros) and abilities.
When I retired, Linda left her long term tenure as a Case Manager in a hospital and became a Middle School Nurse. She was much happier (me too). Less stress............She retired in June 2021.
We couldn’t have handpicked better wives for our sons. Kevin and Ashley gave us our 1st grandchild, Knox Scott, on March 17, 2020. Yes, St Patrick’s Day!! It’s been a joy watching him develop. Our oldest son, Grant married Daniela in 2020, On October 6, 2021, they gave us a beautiful granddaughter, Gemma Rose. What a joy observing her develop and become her own person. We are so proud of our “kids” for the parents they are! So, despite COVID 19, 2020 and 2021 have been filled with blessings!! Oh, and we enjoy the company of our wonderful 4 grand dogs!!
