Greg's Story
Life
My wife, Diane, and I moved to Pierce, Idaho in October of 2005. She had been retired from teaching first grade for two years at the time and I had retired from my position as an investment representative with Edward Jones in Eugene. I had opened up the office five years earlier, built it up to 45 million and decided to "step off the merry-go-round" while still in such robust health. (I say that tongue in cheek). Anyway, we're in a town of 600 people, bought a building on main street which we remodeled and made into our living quarters and an art gallery and framemaking shop. Diane supplies most of the art that we sell, painting local
historical sights (Pierce is the oldest town in Idaho.....1860) and landscapes. We have had a tremendous response to her work. I run the business side of the gallery and do the custom framemaking and framing. We look at each other every now and then and wonder......"Can you believe we're doing this?"
We're having too much fun. We snow shoe out our back door in the winter time, camp and fish in the summer, and hunt in the fall. But most of the time, we've found that we enjoy working in our little gallery inventing new things to present to the public. My four daughters still live in Eugene and are all married to wonderful husba...Expand for more
nds. Diane has three boys, two married, who live in the South....Florida and Louisianna, and one son still in Eugene. I have five grandchildren....three boys and two little girls. Out of college, I spent 2 years working as a youth minister in North Bend, 3 years in the building trades, 15 years as an independent Insurance Agent, 6 years with Bank of America as an investment representative, and finished up with Edward Jones. I have had a wide and varied life which has include lots of travel.....Scotland, France, New Zealand, Australia, all over the Caribbean, and Hawaii several times. Usually my travel was done with a company I worked for or with as a reward for sales.
One of the things I was able to do as a younger person was to memorize large sections of the Bible. I have never regretted for one minute that effort. It has been my mainstay in the bumpy road of life, and has provided much needed guidance close at hand. I value the effects of that treasure above and beyond anything I have done to date, and I will take that value to my grave. As I consider and reflect on life.....how I lived life in high school and how I am now.....I would have done things differently, treated people kinder, but it sometimes takes a lifetime to learn. Thank you for your patience.......
