Greg's Story
Life
Continued my acting pursuits for many years following school, appearing in nearly 100 theater productions in Austin, Houston, Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles. Won a few NEA-funded playwriting awards in the mid-1990's, formed theater/film production company in Seattle, video-tested for the leading role opposite Richard Gere in 1995's "Primal Fear," with the role ultimately going to Edward Norton, launching his career, produced an independent feature, "Nudity and Adult Situations" in '98 which made a few festivals. Had a screenplay in development at Fox Searchlight. Began reconsidering the career investment I was making in an industry whose commercial values I largely don't share and walked away from the instability of an actor's life that same year to raise a daughter with my partner of 13 years, Shaun. Founded and served as program director of KSRB, a classic R&B radio station for Sandusky Radio in the Seattle-Tacoma market, which ran from 1998 to 2001, garnered a good amount of local and national press and won the ABC Network Affiliate of the year in 1999. Steered more toward corporate public relations in the ensuing years, beginning at Burson Marsteller in Beverly Hills and later with my own firm and stable of clients. ...Expand for more
I currently manage branding, imaging and communication design for Providence Health & Services, a $5 billion, 150 year-old Catholic healthcare system, one of the largest in the West, with dozens of acute care, long-term care and housing facilities from Alaska to California. The organization, while industry competitive, places a premium on providing reasonable healthcare avenues to the poor and vulnerable, a matter of importance to me. I'm still very committed to art, social justice and numerous liberal political causes, serving on the boards of several non-profits as well as on the diaconate of Seattle's First Baptist Church, one of the few mainstream faith institutions on the vanguard of promoting progessive policy from a Christian philosophy. I own a classic mid-century modern house in Seattle's sleepy Maple Leaf neighborhood with Shaun, our brilliant and lovely 9 year-old daughter, Kendall, an Australian cattle dog named Jack and a black cat named Amelia. We are all fortunate enough to be grateful for the rich life we have together. It took some time and a fair number of missteps, but I'm a very lucky, happy human being who still believes he can make the tiniest ripple of difference in the world. I hope you are happy, too.
