Greg's Story

September 2009 - Welcome from Montana. I'm back to my birth state and loving most every minute of it. I live in a small town in North Central Montana call Malta. I started and now pastor a great little church we call New Hope Baptist Fellowship. I also drive a school bus route that is 228 miles long and work for one of the local vets taking care of animals that are boarded and whatever other chores need to be done. I have been married for 33 years to my wife, Kathy. I have 3 adult step children and 1 adult daughter, that I had with Ev Benson, my high school sweetheart. I went to college (Univ. of Montana) after graduating Rich East. Things were going pretty good there, til my draft number came up 2. I enlisted in the Navy, spent a stint in the SE Asian War Games. Returned to Montana, and spent 2 years as a rodeo cowboy and later a rodeo clown. Ev and I were married in 1969 and split up in 1973 after having our beautiful daughter Joelyn. I married Kathy in 1977, and ended up in the telephone business working for a manufacture of equipment that we sold to telephone companies. I did installation, training, sales, support, kind of a jack of all trades and a master of none. We lived in MT, TX and CO. In 1985, while attending a moving Vietnam Wall, I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I spent some time with Point Man International ministries, minister to other vets. In 1988 we moved to MN, still in the telephone business as a n...Expand for more
ational sales manager for two sister companies that were involved in trunk and line testing. We started in a new church while we were there and I felt called to enter full time ministry. In 1991 we moved back to MT and I attended Yellowstone Baptist College in Billings and earned a degree in Bible and Theology. Spent some time as a full time pastor, and then re-entered the telephone business in 1996 were I stayed unitl 2004. At the same time I held various positions as associate pastor, worship leader, teacher, and whatever else needed to be done. In 2004, the company I was working for basically closed their doors and we returned to Montana, and started a church here in Malta. I also was serving as the pastor of another small church in Zortman, MT and working as a ranch cowboy for the 9 bar 6 outfit. My wife was injured in a roll-over car accident and moved back into Malta to devote full time to the work here. My favorite pastimes are spending time with the grandkids (we now have 14, and 1 greatgrandson),fishing, camping, reading, but I think more than anything else is just to saddle up and go riding for a couple of days in the Missouri breaks or to go back and spend some time working cows on the ranch. I love living out here in the West, our county is the second largest in the state of Montana with a population of only 4300. It is a great place to live, and anyone who would like to come out and see it just give me a holler.

A beautiful morning here in Northern Montana. The skeeters aren't near as bad as normal.
Looks like it is going to get a tad bit chilly.
Don't bother me, I am sleepy!
