Greg's Story
An update on what `Smitty`s` been up to since graduation...
Well, where do I start?
After high school I attended St.F.X.U. in the Engineering Diploma program and became a christmas graduate so as to get out and seek full-time employment for my financial freedom and independence........Ya right!
Went back to school in 1987 and became qualiifed as a Fisheries Observer and in 1988-89 attended the NS Nautical Institute....graduated from the Marine Navigation Cadet program. Worked a couple of seasons with the Canadian Coast Guard as well as in the local fishing industry.
Back to school over the next number of years to receive my Fishing Masters IV & Watch-Keeping Mates certifications.
In Feb,1990 my fiancee and I had our first child.....Jessica Deidré. We married later that year in Sept. My wife`s name is Lisa.... we had started dating while in Air Cadets back in 1982 and have been together ever since.

decided to give up the going to sea on the long voyages and elected to worked closer to home in the local fishing industry and other local work so as to be with my new young family. In Sept of 2003 we were blessed with a second child Ryan Archibald.
With the extensive training and experience I gained as a volunteer firefighter within the local fire service, as well as the various safety courses I had obtained, I accepted a position with the Town of Antigonish as Fire & Building Inspector.
We have and currently live in the community of Maryvale, Antigonish Co. since 1990. My daughter has recently completed her first year of university at St.F.X. and my son has just graded into grade 11 at the former A.R.H.S. (which is now called the Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional School)
