Greg's Story
Fresh out of high school I had a couple of tragedies. My best friend died on a mountaineering trip and my mother developed Alzheimer's and I watched as she turned into a vegetable over the next 4 years. So I drifted in and out of college studying the sciences, philosophy and religion, trying to figure out the meaning of life. I worked for 8 years as a welder, then another 4 as a licensed veterinary technician, and finally became a Graphics animator which I did for 10 years.
I live now with my wife and 2 boys on a couple of acres ...Expand for more
in the Sierra foothills. We have an orchard, garden, and 24 chickens. We're trying to see how close we can get to living off the land. We've got 3 kwts of solar panels, a hybrid car and a couple of ponds. Peak oil is coming and we're trying to be ready for it as best we can.
I feel very lucky to have grown up during the 70's. It was the best of times as well as the worst. Long live Winterland, and rock n roll!!.... and California, before it became the congested horror it is now.
