Greg's Story

Hello everybody: It 's been nice going down memory lane and reconnecting with you. My wife Denise, recently surprised me with a 60th birthday party. She found an old high school picture of me in a purple crushed velvet tuxedo. My hair was supper long and as some of you may recall, I had coke bottle glasses! She had it blown up into a 6 foot card board figure of me! My family and friends had lots of fun and laughs with it. She stored it in the basement and when I go down to get something, it scares the hell out of me, because I forget it's there. The instructions state to tell your story. Well, not much to tell. I live in Farmington Hills, married to the same beautiful lady for nearly 30 years. I have two wonderful children (Ryan & Natacia) and three incredible grand children, Kallen, Layna and Rylan. I'm multitasking by babysitting all 3 grandkids and trying to write this story. My son just arrived to pick up the grandkids (thank god for small miracles!) I told my son you made me happy twice, he responded by asking, what do you mean? I said when you came and when you left! LOL -it's all good! I use to teach music at Henry Ford community college for a few years, then taught 7th & 8th grade music at Redford union-I called it spit-wad heaven! My wife knew I was unhappy and encouraged me to do what I truly wanted, which was to start my own business and play piano professionally. After years of her trying to convince me to take the plunge, I finally...Expand for more
took her advice and have not look back since. Aside from marrying my wife, that was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. The business I opened is called " Academy of Piano " also in Farmington Hills Michigan. When I began playing piano professionally, I knew I had to use a different last name for obvious reasons, so I currently use my middle name, which is Greg Edmond. Thank God I took my wife's advice, I'm doing what I love and love what I do. All the best Greg P.S. If you've read this far and can hang in there a little longer, I'd like to share one final story with you. When I turned 13 years old, my father asked me 'what is the best age to be'? I responded by saying 16 years old. He asked me why? I said because you can drive a car. He said, 'that's not the right answer.' So, I thought about it and said 21 must be the best age to be. Again, he asked me why? I said, because you're old enough to get into a bar. Once again he said, 'that's not the right answer'. So, then I asked him what is the best age to be? He said "the best age to be, is the age you are. You're only going to be 13 once, you don't get a second chance at it; So, enjoy being 13. And then when you turn 14, that will be the best age to be etc. He went on to say, 'don't wish your life away.' So now, at least for me, 35 is the best age to be, and I'm going to stay that age until the day I die. You have been notified, God bless all of you & enjoy life! WAZ

So sad to hear my friend and mentor Chick Corea Passed away. He was a Piano legend that had such an incredible impact on my playing and musical development. A musical genius, with the patients of a saint, that inspired us a
Play-doh time with my granddaughter Princess Scarlett.
Happy National Son's Day to my son Ryan and his son Kallen who brought home the bling from a baseball championship game that was played yesterday in Grand Rapids. I am a proud father and grandfather!!
