Greg's Story

Hi, Just a little catch up. In the fall of 1966, Ford Motor Company transferred my Dad moving our family to Michigan. The move resulting in my not graduating with my class of 67 at J. F. Kennedy HS in Bloomington, Minnesota however I did graduated with the Bloomfield Hills High School class of 1967 (the name was changed to Andover H. S. ) in Michigan. I joined the US Navy in late 1967 with duty on the USS English DD 696 and then a Plankowner on a new ship, the USS Durham LKA 114, later providing Danang US Navel Support in Vietnam. Following the Navy I used up every cent and more of my GI Bill at the University of Akron's College of Business in Akron, Ohio, earning two degrees. In 1975 I married my 1st & last wife at the same time, Judy Ann Loboda of Brecksville, Ohio. We have wonderful identical twin daughters of whom I am very proud and LOVE very much. They both graduated from St. Thomas University here in St. Paul, Minnesota with BA Degrees in Marketing on the same day and got married in 05 & 06. In March of 2006 at 56, I retired after 29 years in the medical device industry. The last 3 companies I was with; Boston Scientific Inc. from 1984-88. Medtronic Inc. transferred me from Cleveland Ohio back to my home base here in Minnesota where I was in vascular management from 1988-2000. In 2000 I joined another publicly held company, SurModics Inc. as Director of World Wide Sales. In 2002 I became a Corporate Officer & Vice President of Worldwide Marketing & Sales for the company and retired in 2006. I enjoyed all aspects of the medical device industry and feel fortunate to have been involved in such a dynamic market. We enjoy traveling -- In 2007 we spent 6 weeks in Italy with great wine, food, history, & people! In 2008 we did something that we had always promised the girls, but were never able to make happen with all their time commitments and involvement at college, we took just our daughters to Paris for a week with full buy in from their respective husbands. We spent a wonderful week together and after the twins went back to the U.S., we went on to the Normandy area for 5 days and then headed south, renting an apartment in Avigion in the south of France for a home base for 2.5 weeks. I have been very fortunate in my personal life and in my professional career. I was lucky enough to retire at an early age and wise enough to do so. Now I am having one of the best times of my life working with veterans groups, skiing out west in the winter, and boating & riding motorcycles the rest of the year. In 2010 I became involved with the Minnesota Patriot Guard’s Board of Directors and now serving my 5th 2 year term on their board. I'm volunteering time at a horse ranch that caters with programs for disabled military ...Expand for more
veterans. In the motorcycle world I serve my club, In Country Vietnam MC, as National Officer. At the end of 2010 I became a Pepere for the first time, times two. Both of my daughters had baby boys 8 weeks apart and in time for Christmas. Oh boy am I going to have fun with those two. Then both twin daughters gave birth to little girls just 2 weeks apart in 2012 in time again for Christmas. I have already made arrangements to take care of all 4 of them at the same time and to include an overnight every other week. In 2014 I bought a second home in Vail Colorado, large enough to have both daughters and their families out for extended stays. Life up here in the Colorado Rockies is so so stimulating in every way from the time you wake up in the morning until the time you wake up the morning and so on. I was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 18 years and Director of the patrol the last 3 of the 18 years before Medtronic Inc. transferred me to Minnesota. At the beginning of the 2015 Beaver Creek Ski Season in Colorado I again became a member of the National Ski Patrol there serving as a Mountain Host and Guide, continuing into each of the following ski season. From December 1st to May I ski out here with the exception of a 2 week trip back to Minnesota over Christmas. Happily families and friends visit and ski in January, February, March and April which enriches the wonderful time spent here. The 2018/19 ski season starts the day before Thanksgiving like it does every year - YES ! I was out to the Colorado house for most of August fly fishing and now going back in October to finish up the fly fishing ready for winter. The end of November 2018 I’ll be back in Colorado through the 1st week of May with the exception of spending time in Minnesota through Christmas. Both daughters and their respective families will be moving in for a week or more of skiing mid March with all 4 of the Grand “Littles” in ski sessions 2 full days each. All of the 4 Grandchildren ski high greens now following 3 to 4 years of lessons. So 3 generations are now skiing together which is fairly emotional at times for me to watch and grasp. Today in 2023 the grandsons are now both 12 and the granddaughter’s are both 10 years old My brother Dan comes out fly fishing in the spring, summer, and fall. He will also be here for 3 day ski trips a couple of times this winter again. Two of my sisters, Diane and Lora along with their families later in the season. Then other friends will be in and out most of the winter. That in a few words is all - but it's also enough !!! I got on this Classmates site to see if I can find some old friends that I lost tack of a long time ago. So, please feel free to contact me, I would like to here from you.
