Gregg's Story
Life
Growing up in Wichita Falls and cutting classes at Hirschi, I never would have thought I'd wind up as a teacher, but thats just where life led me. After bouncing around various colleges for 8 years (I call it "taking the scenic route through college"), I began teaching in Ft Worth in 1976. 4 schools and a move to Oklahoma and 27 years later, I'm still at it. I have taught debate, public speaking, government, economics, American History, and a course on taking standardized tests. I have sponsored/coached the Debate Team, the Academic Team, and (for a time) was an assistant track coach.
I also teach public speaking at the community college level, and have published o...Expand for more
ver 20 books dealing with high school debate topics and practices.
I moved to Oklahoma in 1984 and have been teaching in the Tulsa area ever since. I married here in 1987, and my wife is also a teacher so there is no hope of us being rich anytime soon. We have 2 daughters, the oldest being born just as I turned 40. I'm often the oldest dad at the PTA meetings, but thats OK too. And as you can tell by my picture, I sorta "got over" being real skinny in high school!
My parents still live in Wichita Falls, so I get back there about twice a year to visit. Its odd to think that I have lived in Tulsa for twice as long as I did Wichita Falls, but I still consider Texas "home."
