Ben's Story
Here's a little about me!
Went to Liverpool High School from 1970-74, graduated with my class. I attended some of the school functions but most of my free time I would spend working on cars. (Love those hotrods!) When I worked, As a freshmen I started at Carvel on route 57 and would clean up the store mornings before school for some extra money. Later the following year I started work at Seneca Mall Mobile, pumping gas and doing light mechanical repairs, and soon I worked additionally at Wrights Texaco in the Village doing mechanical repairs. By my Senior year I took a job as an apprentice tool maker in Syracuse. In between I managed to raise a little hell at Brennan beach and Sandy pond..... Those were the days!!
The year I graduated I opened my own Maintenance company in Syracuse, started out by myself, sold the jobs and did the work. by 1980 I employed 32 people. I worked the business for the next several years while starting up another business designing and building drag race cars, as well as restoring custom and classic cars. ue ambition I sold the maintenance company with 62 employees in 1989 to devote my time to the hotrod business.
Over the past 20 years we have built and restored a large assortment of cars and trucks. Among all of this I did get married and have 4 wonderful children. 3 Daughters and a Son. Twin girls 27, daughter 16 and Son 19. We travel, go camping, race cars, hang out and spend time together. There are the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Its hard sometimes to believe that 35 years has gone by since graduation! I can still hear American Pie playing on the cafeteria Juke box and the smell of stale smoke coming from the lavs. Cutting class and making a run for the old barn. Helping build the pond in science wing. My freshman math teacher for believing in me. Ma Meek, Coach Mac, Mr Hall. Culmane(sp) "Fat Jack" for chasing me down Wetzel Rd in my 70 Charger RT, didn't catch me, and never turned me in!! Oh yes and those school dances with live bands... Friends from those days and memories I'll always keep.
Take care! Ben
