Ronnie's Story
I Graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, California in 1966. I grew up in Allied Gardens (on 50th Street). My brother (Roy) and my sister (Linda) both attended Hoover. They are both deceased. I joined the Army after I graduated from high school and served 3 years, including two tours in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. I received the Bronze Star Medal for combat duty with the 101st Airborne Division. I married Micheline (Mickey) Donahoo in 1968. She graduated from Kearney High School. I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1973 and worked as an auditor for San Diego County for 5 years. I went to work for the IRS in 1978 and moved to Tupelo, Mississippi. I won the gold medal for the highest grade on the May 1980 CPA exam in Mississippi and went to work for a public acc...Expand for more
ounting firm (Nail McKinney Professional Association) in 1981. I became a Partner and Director of Taxation in 1986. I retired from the firm and sold out my partnership interest in September 2005 (after 24 years with the Firm). I went to work as a vice president and trust officer with Cadence Bank (formerly BancorpSouth Bank) in Tupelo, Mississippi. I retired from the Bank in September 2023, after 18 years. My wife and I have two grown children (Kristy and Jeff). Kristy is divorced and lives in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She is an office manager for a local car dealership. Jeff was a truck driver for 15 years, before he became disabled. He is divorced and lives with us. While we don't have any grandchildren, we have a grand dog (Ginger) that we are crazy about. We have a good life, but miss our friends and family in San Diego.
