Michael's Story
Life
Well it has been 18 years since the good old days at Toll Gate High, and life has changed alot in that time frame. I hope that all is well with all of the class of 91 alumni and all of my friends from other years. After graduation, I accomplished more than I ever thought I would have in the last 18 years. Starting with going to Johnson and Wales College (now University) and receiving 2 AS degrees between 1993 and 1995 (Business Administration, Management, then receiving 2 BS in 1995 in Business Education and Management, then my MAT in Business Education in 1999, and a 3rd BS in 2001 in Financial Service Management. Also, I have just completed my DBA/ Doctor of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership Management from Belford University of which I graduated in December 2006.
As for life itself, I have lived in a few places from a little bit of time in Upstate NY, to a couple months in NJ, to a year and a half on Block Island, to various parts of RI, finally settling down after 10 years in Pawtucket(the bucket), I just bought a new home in North Providence. Marrying my wife Diane on Feburary 15, 1998, we have a beautiful daughter Marissa Ellin born August 10, 2006 weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz, and also have 4 cats, and
our infant son Matthew Michael born on October 4, 2007 weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz.
In the work area, I have bounced around between having my own businesses, to working in teaching/ coaching, to my current field of Financial Planning. I am the General Agent and Managing Director of TEAM Financial Strategies, LLC and a General Agent for American United Life Insurance Company. I also am a Talk Show Host on 920WHJJ AM on Saturday Mornings from 11am-noon of the Financail Protection Hour. I have been a Past President President of the Johnson and Wales Alumni Association after serving as President for 2005-2006, and have served both as an Undergraduate Representative and Vice President for 2003-2005, I also have served on various civic and professional boards of directors in the past 10 years.
I still love sports both watch and playing (when I have time), along with fast cars, motorcycles (Harleys), music of all kinds, and just plain old spending time with my wife Diane, my daughter Marissa Ellin and my son Mat...Expand for more

As we all have grown in our lives I wish everyone success, health, and happiness. Live life, Be happy, Be Prosperous, Be Safe, Have Fun, and most importantly SMILE! I am also working on a book that asimilates various Leadership and Goal Setting Styles...as when you set your GOALS high you will build toward Greatness and Success.
Workplace
It has been a long way since working at JC Penney, in the past 20 years I have jumped around a little bit. After High School I started a Limousine Business with my Dad (Symphony Limousine), and then after college I taught on Block Island, in Providence, and in Pawtucket (Teaching Business/ Computers and Coaching Basketball, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track)).
In June 2000, I went into the Financial Planning field with Quick and Reilly, then moved to MassMutual FInancial Group in Providence, becoming the Agency Sales Manager and the moved onto Nationwide in Westerly, RI. then to Career Development Supervisor/ Regional Director for MW Financial Group, LTD based out of Farmington, CT, and Since September 2006 I am now the Director of Brokerage (for Life Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, and Fixed Annuities) and Sales Manager for John Hancock in Warwick, Rocky Hill, CT, and with brokers all over the US. In April 2009 I ventured away from John Hancock and opened my own firm TEAM Financial Strategies in Warwick (I came back to my roots) and we are a One America Financial Partners Firm in which I am the General Agent/ Managing Director. We are a professional Finanical Services firm providing Insurance and Financial Services to clients in RI,CT, MA, MD, and MN.
I have also been involed in many Civic and Professional organizations and Boards. Some of the Civic boards that I have been part of is the Kiwanis Club of Greater Providence, School Improvement Team at Nathan Bishop Middle School in Providence, RI Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and Johnson and Wales University Alumni Association. I have served in leadership roles in each of the above organizations.
I hope to connect with some old friends and see how everyone is doing almost 20 years later. As we grow our lives change immensley and we all ways have to look back to where we came from.
