Guinevere's Story
Life
I'm a mama of two kiddos- a boy who is 6 and finishing up kindergarten and a girly who is 14 months and into doing crazy things that give me heart attacks. I'm trying this homemaker thing lately after taking a break from college, and I love the taking care of the kids and cooking dinner part and am having a hard time with all the house work. It feels like I can't get everything done all at once.
I also work about 35 hours a week for a non-profit theatre called The Empty Space as an executive board member (I am the marketing director) and am involved in other aspects of the theatre including the art gallery and booking the music. As marketing director I (I've had the position for over 2 years now) I have to send out press releases, contact the news, design flyers and programs, design, write, and send out a quarterly newsletter to our mailing list and maintain the website. I also help organize fundraisers sometimes. This is a volunteer position so I don't get paid. Sometimes I act in plays which is what I love the best, but have cut down on that a lot to spend more time with my family. Every now and then I do a cheesy local commercial for some extra money.

d organize VDAY Bakersfield which is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The money raised all supports the Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault here in Bakersfield. Last year we raised $3000 and this year hasn't been all the way added up, but it may be about $4000. I'm not really down with violence towards men or boys either, but VDAY focuses on women and girls. I think I'll be in charge of organizing it again next year. I am sure it will be challenging but rewarding to be the one in charge. I hope it is as successful next year. We had hot air balloon rides and want to do that again.
Mostly I'm noticing I'm 25 and have been lucky enough to find all this stuff that is so interesting to do. I went to Long Beach for a while and came back to be closer to my family after my son was about 8 months old. Family is really important to me. And the arts. And having fun, but I do a bit less of the fun stuff to make room for the family stuff. There are a few people I often think of, especially from my freshman and softmore year before I stopped caring about school as much. I hope everyone is doing well and growing up and finding out who they are and all that nonsence.
