Guy's Story
Well I've put on weight but I'm still so darn good looking. Here is my story and beleive me I am sticking with it.
Went to college. Went to war. Went back to college. Then in 1977 while in the Naval Resrves got orders for a summer cruise in the Med. They dropped me off in Naples, Italy with a pocketful of money. So I picked up a Frommer book and I spent the next 6 months traveling Europe and Israel. Went to Vatican City, Venice and the rest of Italy (missed Lake Como would love to see that someday). Almost forgot in 1977 before the Med cruise converted to Catholicism. So while in Europe I went to Lourdes and Fatima, Portugal. Found myself in London in Jan. of 1978 trying to do tourist things in torrential downpours day after day. I said "This is unacceptable" and hopped on an EL AL airliner and headed for Tel Aviv.
From Tel Aviv went immediately to Jerusalem. Stayed in the Arab section of town because it was cheaper. I had to walk past this Hooka Bar to enter the walled city and invariably there w...Expand for more
ould be a least one Arab who wasn't moving who had been thrown out of this place and was lying in the gutter at 8:00 AM. I was there for at least a week. Saw all the sites in Jerusalem, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden of Gethsemane, and the Wailing Wall. Went to Bethlehem not far from Jerusalem then I decided to go to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee. On the way stopped off at Mount Tabor the site of the Transfiguration. There is a church on the top of that mountain that everyone should see. While at the Sea of Galilee I stopped at the site where Jesus appeared to Peter and forgave him for denying him three times. There was also a church there I will never forget. It had a dirt floor and was not far from the Lake. In the winter the sun passed to the South of the church. The pine trees had been cut between the church and the lake so when the sun was moving in the sky during the day, the light reflected off the lake and illuminated this church. It was simple but spectacular.
Flew back to Rome .
