Guy's Story
On August 1, 2014, I became the Executive Director - Communications and Organizational Development for Saulsbury Industries, a national engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm headquartered in Odessa, Texas. My job was eliminated during the oil and gas downturn on 4/1/2015.
After retirement, I worked as the Director of Community Development for the City of Conroe from 2005 to 2011. I worked as the Director of Economic Development in Odessa from 2011 to 2014.
I retired after 25 years with SBC (Southwestern Bell and now AT&T). I served as the Area Manager-External Affairs for Midland/Odessa, Texas from July 1, 1995 to March 5, 2004. I was responsible for community and governmental relations and economic development in the Permian Basin region including: Alpine, Big Spring, Crane, Fort Davis, Fort Stockton, Goldsmith, Grandfalls, Iraan, Kermit, McCamey, Marathon, Marfa, Midkiff, Midland, Monahans, Odessa, Pyote, Rankin, Thorntonville, Wickett, Seminole, Stanton, Terminal, and Wink.
Prior to 1995, I had work experience with SBC (now AT&T) in computer support, human resources and budgets. I spent fourteen years in property and cost and depreciation accounting. I have lived in Lubbock (1 year), San Antonio (2 years), St. Louis (10 years), and Austin (3 years) prior to moving to the Permian Basin.

Sold mini-computers and other accounting equipment in the San Antonio area. Achieved Burroughs highest sales level, President's Honor Roll.

Served as administrative non-commissioned officer at Fort Ord, California; Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; Fort Chaffee, Arkansas; Camp Samae San, Thailand; and Fort Hood, Texas. Awarded three Army Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, and Viet Nam Campaign and Service Medals.
Military
I was drafted in 1970, but went ahead and enlisted to get the military occupational speciality (MOS) I wanted. I took Basic Training at Fort Ord, California. Following Basic Training I attended stenographer school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. While there, I had a TDY assignment at Fort Chafee, Arkansas. Upon returning to Fort Benjamin Harrison, I was reassigned to Camp Samae San, Thailand with the United States Army Support - Thailand. After a year in Thailand, I was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas with the 13th Support Brigade that was part of the 7th Cavalry Division.
