Gwendolyn (Gwen)'s Story
I have always wanted to be a nurse (ever since I can remember), so I guess it is fitting that I've spent the last 47 years doing just that! It has been a great ride for me...with many wonder-filled adventures along the way!
Much of my life "since Barstow" has been spent in the "Great Pacific NW"...mostly in Oregon (no more desert for this Riffian!) where I received my nursing education...first in the Diploma program at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. 2 children (1 girl & 1 boy). Along the way I completed graduate school at Oregon Health and Science University and served a 14 year stint in the USAR.
Currently I am retired from teaching, widowed, & living in a beautiful spot with views of Silver Lake & Mt. St. Helens (about an hour north of Portland, OR). I volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Health Services, and love to travel ---my latest adventure was in Cuba this past (2013) Spring.
My brother and most of his family still live in the Yermo/Barstow area so I get down there pretty regularly. I was so happy to see many of you Class of '63 Riffians at our 50th reunion!
