Hal's Story
Life
After high school, I spent 3 years in the United States Marine Corps; then attended Scottsdale Community College where I earned a an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
I spent the next eight years working for the Scottsdale Police Department, including work as an Undercover Narcotics Detective. That proved to be a life changing event, as I soon became addicted to alcohol and cocaine.
The tumultous ride continued, as I was eventually sentenced to time in the Arizona State Prison.
Once released, I went back to college at ASU, and earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work. I have been working in the Behavioral Health field since the early 90's, in a variety of capacities.

of the Member Assistance Program for the State Bar of Arizona. I provide substance abuse, and mental health services to attorney's and their families.
I created my own business last year, which specializes in Organiztional Consultation, and other specialized services. Recently, I have begun to provide motivational speaking services to organizations. That has proven to be one of my greatest joys, and a source of satisfaction for me. I have also been asked to contribue, as an Associate Editor, to a Chicken Soup for the Soul project, due for publication in 2005.
I am currently living in Northeast Phoenix; my wife Ellen and I are raising our three children, Kevin (17), Collin (10), Mariah (6), also known as "The Boss."
