We live in a tiny (and I do mean tiny) little house we dubbed "the love shack" in Black Mountain, way up on the side of a mountain amidst the oak trees and rhododendrons. In order to grow tomatoes and zucchini this year, I have to grow them on the roof (which is flat). Mark and I are currently working on a green renovation to the house.
I play clarinet and sometimes other instruments in several ensembles including the Asheville Lyric Opera, Gracious Light Trio, Winterwood Consort, and ASO Woodwind Quintet. I enjoy writing music for various chamber ensembles, especially clarinet choir, woodwind quintet, and mixed quartet. I love playing at the Biltmore house, weddings, and retirement centers as well.
I taught middle school band for 6 years at Owen Middle School. I now am in real estate, and I love it even though I'm not raking in the dough. The best thing about real estate is waking up at...whenever you wake up (perhaps that is why I'm not raking in the dough??)
More than anything, I love helping others. I love fixing problems. I love making things better. Especially this wonderful planet we all call home.".
