Hank's Story
Life
Between 1994 and 2001 I taught English and advised the yearbook at Willowbrook. In 1998 I married fellow teacher Bridget Loar (WB class of 1989). After completing my master's degree in school counseling in June 2001 at Northeastern Illinois University, I went to work as a guidance counselor at Crystal Lake Central High School. In May 2003, we moved to Woodstock, IL (where the movie Groundhog Day was filmed). Since July 2003, I have been the Director of Guidance at Cary-Grove High School in Cary, IL. In February, I successfully defended my dissertation and now have a doctorate in educational administration. We now have THREE beautiful children, Hannah (7) and Hayden (3), and Heaton (8 months) who keep us busy and definitely entertained. Hannah asked me recently, "Daddy, were vintage cars invented when you were young?" Geesh! It was great seeing you at the reunion, but there were many others I wished I could have seen as well. School
It's hard to miss Willowbrook because it seemed that I never left (not until 2001 anyway). Teaching at WB was certainly an experience! It is hard to believe that is has been seven years since I taught there.

emember orientation week where we, the Class of '91, were filling out various forms in Edman Chapel. True children of the '80s, we spontaneously began whistling a la "The Breakfast Club." Even though I was put through my paces as an English major at Wheaton, that harrowing experience prepared me for future graduate studies (an MA in school counseling from NEIU; a C.A.S. in ed. leadership from National-Louis Univ., and a doctorate in ed. leadership also from National-Louis Univ.)

Workplace
From 1994 to 2001, I taught English and advised the yearbook at Willowbrook HS (Class of '86) in Villa Park, IL. I had wonderful students and some wonderful colleagues, one of which became my wife!
From 2001 to 2003, I went to District 155 to work as a guidance counselor at Crystal Lake Central HS. I again had wonderful students and colleagues, who made me feel at home right away.
Since July 2003, I have been working as the Director of Guidance at Cary-Grove HS (another Dist. 155 school). It continues to be a rewarding & challenging experience. I truly love what I do! It is a great school with great people. I feel truly blessed.
