Hardy's Story

Life I joined the navy right after high school. I attended college one year after returning home from the Navy after four years of service. I was married for many years and had two beautiful daughters, who are doing well today. One is 35 married with two children, the other is not married. They are both very good girls. I am not presently married. I have spent most of my working career in manufacturing jobs. I currently work for an air-conditioner manufacturer. I worked for several other companies in the past that downsized or sold to other companies. One I had enough years in to be vested in a retirement and a couple of others I had to roll over my 401k. I live near Longview Texas now, this is where I went after the service, I have three sisters living in this area, which I get to see pretty often. My dad lived in Arkansas until 1978 when he moved to Marshall Texas and lived here around his children until he passed away in 1992. He was 87 and he was in pretty good health until about the last year of his life. I have managed to keep good jobs most of my working life, I have only been on my present job three years but I have advanced some and am up to an assistant's assistant so to speak, as one friend told me I am a jack of all trades. I have a lot of interests, I like to do home improvement, do it yourself type projects. Also like to read, study, and I like to find items at different sales and thrift stores. Some of them I fix or restore. East Texas is in many ways like my home of Arkansas, I like to enjoy the country type scenery around here, I haven't been back to Arkansas in a while, after my dad moved here, I hardly have any relatives there anymore, But I would like to go back there soon. I am very fond of the days that I grew up in the Norphlet ...Expand for more
area, I have so many good memories of those times. I'm not trying to go back and live in the past, but I like to reflect on those times every now and then, I would like to thank all of you who were friends and supported me back then. There are so many of you who influenced my life. All that would please email me and we can chat. I try to live a pretty simple life but not so simple that it is boring or anything. I just work pay my bills and taxes and try to be an asset to my community. I probably don't have it all together in every area, but I am doing ok and moving in the right direction. Again I say I am very pleased to have lived and grow up in the era that I did. I have strong convictions about being a good citizen, having faith in God and being patriotic, and holding many traditional values that made this country great. Hope to contact as many old friends as possible. I believe our group back in the 60's was very close knit, we had our differences at times but we usually backed each other up. I hope it is still like that, but I think maybe growing up today has more pressure than what we experienced. I am looking forward to the remainder of my days, I still have quite a few things I'd like to do. I am pleased to hear that many Norphlet High grads are doing so well. I'll close for now and encourage more of you to add profiles and bios and photos, so we can continue to stay in touch and preserve our friendships. Sincerly Hardy Powell Norphlet High School graduate of 1966. P.S. One of my favorite passtimes is spending time with my family. The grand-kids are great , especially my granddaughter six year old, Britaini. My grandson Trey is a fine boy of 12, he was sort of a basketball star in his Church league. God Bless You All and God Bless America.
