Harold Byford:  

Right after High School, I married a beautiful young lady, Patty Rimer, who moved to Stroud from Tulsa. That was in 1949, and we are still together. This wonderful union gave us four great children, Harold Jr, Bill, Patti, and Raye. I spent the first four or five years of our marriage working in the oil field, since that was where the jobs were around Stroud. Then after a move to Odessa, Texas in 1956, I entered the law enforcement field, working four and a half years for the Odessa Police Department. Then we moved to New Mexico where I joined the New Mexico State Police in 1961. I retired with the rank of Captain, (District Commander), in Alamogordo, N.M. in 1986. I was then appointed as Parole Board Chairman for the NM Corrections Department, which required a move to Santa Fe. I served in that position for one year, resigned, and then was appointed Chief of Police in Portales, N.M. in August 1988. I served in that position until August 1993, and then returned to Santa Fe where I served as Head of the N.M. Public Safety Federal Grant Section office for two years. This entaile...Expand for more
