David's Story
Life
After graduating from Dunedin High School in 1963, attended George Tech. Attended St Pete JC and graduated from the Univ of South Florda.
Joined the US Navy and received Navy pilot wings in 1969. Married Cindi Banks (Clearwater HS '63) and completed several Navy flying tours on ships deployed to the Mediterranean. Travelled the world with the Navy for 23 years and was stationed in Pensacola, Virginia, and overseas in Spain, India and Sri Lanka.
Graduated from Univ So FL and then earned three Masters degrees (Troy University, Univ of Madras (India), & Univ of So CA). Have two grown sons and three grandchildren.
Retired from the US Navy in 1992 and worked in private sector as a project manager, defense consultant, and most recently in the oil and energy business. Currently Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and process improvement engineer for Rolls-Royce Energy Systems. Active in several local Proj...Expand for more
ect Management Institute (PMI) and American Society for Quality (ASQ) chapters and sections. Now a PMI certified Project Management Professional and national Marketing Chair for the ASQ Lean Enetrprise Divison. Still married (52 years) now and living in a small rural town in Eastern Tennessee.
School
Attended Windemere Elementary School and Ellet High Schllo in Akron OH until moving to Dunedin FL in 1960. Enjoyed days at Dunedin High School and attended several DHS Class of '63 Reunions over the past 20 years. Memories of Principal Dick Danford; Ass't Principal Francis Freeman, Psych teacher Wilbur Jones, History teacher Buford, Coach Pollock, Mrs. Cline, and fantastic classmates, great Fighting Falcon football and basketball teams, and a brand new school (in 1963).
I'll probably never forget Francis Freeman threatening to paddle me at graduation for diving my Model A Ford up the auditorium steps.
