Harry's Story
Work: I recently retired (4 Feb 2022).
Prior to retiring, I was a Vice-President at Citigroup.
I managed a pair of computer system that monitor and manage Citibank's ATMs. One system monitor ATMs in the United States and Mexico (it used to also handle ATMs in those Latin American countries where Citi had a presence, but over the years, we sold off those businesses).. The other system, located in Singapore, monitors all the ATMs in the Asia-Pacific region.
School: In December of 1975, I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Math and Computer Science, from State University College at Brockport, NY. I also completed a minor in Theatre.
In December of 2005, I completed a Master's Degree in Computer Science from New York Institute of Technology.
Live: I live in Mineola, NY these days.
Travel: Since 2001, I've done a lot of traveling, visiting such European locations as London, Edinburgh, Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, Budapest, Venice, Florence, Lisbon, the Island of Madeira, Paris and numerous parts of Ireland. I've also been to Thailand, Ankor Wat (Cambodia), Singapore, the Island of Borneo (Malaysia), Vietnam, Jordan and Egypt, Croatia (and parts of the former Yugoslavia). A while back I went to Ecuador and Peru (Machu Picchu), so I've now managed to cross the equator. Another recent trip was to Rome. ...Expand for more
I also have been to Morocco, and traveled on 'The Silk Road' (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan).
Other Activities:
Sports: I've gone white water rafting through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River, the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho, and on the Delaware River in Pennsylvania.
Theatre: I have performed regularly in many community theatre productions in and around Douglaston, NY, as well as a few other locations on Long Island. I've been in such productions as: "Company", "Applause", "Witness For The Prosecution", "Death Takes A Holiday", "Night Watch", "You Can't Take It With You", "Plaza Suite" as well as several Agatha Christi plays including "The Hollow", "Black Coffee", "The Spider's Web" and "Murder On The Nile". I also appeared in Shakespear's 'The Taming Of The Shrew' (removing an item from my 'bucket list'), and most recently, I played Sigmund Freud in 'Freud's Last Session'.
Amateur Radio: I hold an Amateur Radio Extra Class license and am very active with the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club, where i have been the editor of the newsletter, member of the board of directors, and vice-president, as well as a regular 'net control' operator for the club weekly radio nets. I've also worked communications for both the Long Island Marathon and the New York City Marathon.
