bout this job was I had free access to the Univac, DEC and IBM systems at Lockheed. My meager skills with the computing systems led to other jobs within Lockheed and eventually I was able to transfer directly to the IT department in Special projects.
Working with Jim Weigle, Tom Downing and Niel Nix I was able to learn a new career.
Neil Nix and I carpooled and supported the mainframes in Special projects for four years. Neil left for IBM in 1988 and then I left for IBM in 1989 when Special projects shut down.
I have done all sorts of jobs with IBM. Hardware installation planner to Senior Network Integrater. I currently specialize in outsourcing commercial customers and bringing them into the IBM service delivery center.
The worst day at IBM still beats an average day at Lockheed. I do miss the planes and the secret stuff! Working from home and not complaining at all.
In February 2008 my division was sold to AT&T. I still work from home and I was able to take advantage of the AT&T MBA program.
