Harvey's Story
Life
I live in Minneapolis with My wife, Juliet, and two sons, 18 and 20. I'm a Psychologist& Manager for Hennepin County MH.
After I left East, I spent 4 years at Duke University and met my wife there. We eventually moved to Minneapolis where I attended grad school at the U of M. We spent a couple years in MN. Then we moved back to Nashville for a year while I did my internship at Vanderbilt, Peabody, and Meharry Medical College. In Nashville, we were friends with Pat (Scandrick) Weaver, who's husband was in Med School at Meharry. After that year (74-75) we returned to MN for a year so I could finish work on my Ph.D. We've been here ever since. Al Alexander, who played basketball at East and graduated a year ahead of us, lives here also. He's a Bank President. His wife is a judge. Those of you who went to Vine Jr. High before East will remember Mrs. (Edith) Butler, who worked in the Office. She lives here as well, only a few blocks from where I used to work. So I saw her ...Expand for more
often.
I usually only get back to Knoxville about once every other year. And then, only because my mother's family has a biennial reunion. I have run into Pincie Kaiser and Deborah Taylor (Jack) on my trips back. And, yes, I've talked to Betty Sligh a few times as well. We usual only have enough free time for family events. Also, it's difficult to break out of the routine and go looking up old friends as I would like to because my wife has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for the past decade and is confined to a wheelchair and requires a lot of my attention, particilarly if we are away from home.
I would, however, very much like to hear from or about my old East High chums. I got a call from Buford McKinney one day, just out of the blue. It was a real treat. Due to my situation, I've cut back on extracurricular activities, so I'm home most evenings and weekends (although, often I can't come to the phone right away). I do enjoy correspoding over e-mail and the internet, though.
