Denise's Story
Life
Since I graduated, I have been very interested in the field of allied health. I have worked for many years as an assistant in hospital labs. I have really enjoyed this so much. However, in 1996, I was found to have colon cancer and though I have pretty much beaten it back, I am still unemployed at this time. I do anticipate getting back to work soon and back to what I enjoy. I have stuck with the music. In fact, as I got older, I found out I could actually carry a tune! I have really enjoyed doing solo work, mostly in my church. I have a pretty terrific relationship with God through Jesus Christ and if all that other stuff goes away, I can still say, "Life is GOOD!". Other than that, I don't know what to say! So I guess I'm done! Have a great one! Bye!
9/24/2004-A little update on my life is that I am now back to work, although not in the field I was in and loved, but I am back to work! I now work as an Eligibility Worker for San Bernardino County in the Redlands Transitional Assistance office. I am finding this to be really rewarding work and I am really enjoying being back in the workplace. I remain cancer-free and am really liking life a lot. Since I'm limited to 4000 words, I'd better keep this short! Hi to all my old high school friends and hope you all are doing great! God bless!
4/29/2009 - Well, a little update every five years isn't too bad, right? LOL! Okay, here goes...first off, I didn't last a whole year as an eligibility worker because my poor little mind just couldn't wrap itself around the policies and procedures and all the copious number of ...Expand for more
rules involving the handing out of food stamps and welfare. But that's okay. That job is not for everyone. It isn't what I love, which is helping sick people, so I'm kind of glad I found out how little aptitude I had for it before I'd invested years and years in it, you know?
Anyway, I just finished a course in Respiratory Therapy and will graduate this Friday night! May 1st, 2009! Yay! I'm still cancer free and really looking forward to working in the field of respiratory care and sleep disorder technology, which is a fairly new arm of respiratory therapy, though not a new field altogether. Somebody realized that since sleep techs often have to administer oxygen to their clients and since oxygen is a drug, the sleep tech needs to be licensed to administer drugs! LOL! So bang! There you go! Nice work if you can get it! LOL!
Sadly, since last I wrote, I lost my mother to the ravages of Parkinson's Disease. I miss her every day. She was my best friend and was so faithful in helping me get through the cancer. But on the upside, I have seen my oldest niece marry and have her first child! I'm a great aunt! I have a grandnephew who is absolutely perfect, beautiful, intelligent, awesome and every other kind of superlative I can't think of right now. Suffice it to say, he's the love of my life! I may add a photo of him on here if his mom says I can. Privacy issues, you know.
Well, enough gushing. I hope this update finds the reader(s) in good health, not victimized too much by the present economy and full of blessings. Take care all! Keep in touch and have a great day!
